Twitch Limits Highlights & Uploads Storage
Creators are not happy about this

The Announcement
Twitch announced that starting April 19, 2025, they will add a 100-hour storage limit for Highlights and Uploads.
The announcement said that this limit will apply to all Highlights and Uploads published and unpublished and clarified that VODs and Clips will remain unaffected by this.
Twitch also placed a notification in the Creator Dashboard.

According to the announcement less than 0.5% of users are above this limit and those who surpass it are being told to remove some of the highlights before April 19, 2025, to go within the limit or they will risk getting them automatically deleted.
They also said that once the limit is established throughout the whole platform no one will be able to exceed it and that they’ll add a video storage tracker on the Video Producer page so creators know how much space they have left.

This tracker has been out since Feb 20, 2025, so creators can decide what videos to keep and remove.
Twitch said that the reason for this change is that this feature is not as effective in driving discoverability and engagement as Clips, Tags, and the Mobile Discovery Feed while being very costly.

My thoughts
I understand why creators are mad at Twitch right now.
Highlights are one of the most used features by creators to showcase some of the most engaging and fun moments in their streams.
While Clips can do the same it has a one-minute limit so if you want to show a funny moment that lasted for more than that you would make a highlight which would remain on your page forever, unlike your VODs which get deleted after 14 days if you are an affiliate or 30 days if you are a partner.
Before you could freely make them, but now if you are one of the few that are near the limit you will be forced to select which ones to keep and delete.
I suppose it is time to export your highlights to your YouTube channel to save them from getting deleted.
Also, I found this video by Nutty where he mentioned some ways to save your highlights from being deleted so check it out if you move them to another platform.
Honestly, I used to be a bit upset about not having many highlights on my channel but I’m now glad because this would stress me out if I had thousands of highlights.
Anyway, that’s all for today.
See you later bros!
